The Skies Voice Speaks

I have a friend who, on her walks early in the morning, takes pictures of the beauty God paints in the sky. She repeats this practice at the end of the day,  and she shares her pictures with her friends on Facebook. Those pictures are a blessing to those of us who see them. My friend’s sky pictures reminded me and inspired me to write about a Psalm that David wrote.

Oh Lord, how magnificent, how breathtaking is your creation. The totality of your handiwork declares your glory and reveals your majesty. The heavens and the skies exist beyond what is known to man. They are endless and even the efforts of our small human minds cannot come close to measuring their vastness. As a glorious gift from you the skies give evidence of your supreme existence, your greatness and your unmatched power. We gaze upon the beautiful blue sky of day and the countless glimmering stars in the darkness of night, they give us knowledge of who you are, and we see you adorned in your awesome attire. These heavens and skies have no speech and they use no words, yet day after day and night after night, they speak to us, sometimes in whispers, sometime in booming shouts, and we know your presence among us. No one through out our world can offer an excuse why they should not kneel before you in humble adoration and declare, Oh Lord our God how great you are!”

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Psalm 19
